Castro Daire Black Clay Meetings
Inauguration of the Black Clay and Soenga Workshop (Ribolhos)

Binaural Nodar is pleased to share a set of photographs of the inauguration of the Black Clay Workshop and the traditional soenga of pottery pieces, which took place in the village of Ribolhos, as part of the event “Catching Time: Encountering the Black Clay of Castro Daire”, with the presence of the Hon. Director General of the Arts, Dr. Américo Rodrigues, the Mayor of Castro Daire, Dr. Paulo Almeida, the President of the Mamouros, Alva and Ribolhos Parish Council, Hélder Ferreira and the coordinator of Binaural Nodar, Luís Costa, among other individuals.

The Oficina do Barro Negro de Ribolhos (Ribolhos Black Clay Workshop) was conceived by Binaural Nodar, Castro Daire – Municipal Library and the potter Jorge Ferreira. It is a place for interpreting, sharing, practicing and innovating about local black clay and will now promote a regular program of activities, such as guided tours, soaking demonstrations, pottery workshops for young people and adults, temporary exhibitions, community meetings, among others.

The event “Catching Time: Encounters of the Black Clay of Castro Daire” was co-organized by: Saber Fazer Program, National Arts Plan, Municipality of Castro Daire, UF Mamouros, Alva and Ribolhos, Castro Daire School Group and Binaural Nodar.
