THE BECOMING OF THE COMMONS
A creative project by Luís Costa and Ana Rodríguez
November 2024 – July 2025

The creative project “The Becoming of the Commons”, dedicated to the history and current challenges of common lands and other community spaces, has continued in recent weeks with a series of interviews conducted in Vouzela (Viseu Dão Lafões, Portugal), Vimioso (Trás-os-Montes, Portugal), Vinaròs (Valencian Community, Spain), and Santa Lucía (Canelones, Uruguay).

The final result of this project, co-produced by Binaural Nodar and Mapa sonoro de Uruguay, will be an audio documentary to be released in August 2025, authored by Luís Costa and Ana Rodríguez.

Thanks to the kindness of the people interviewed for this project: Ramón Puig (Vinaròs) Miguel Nóvoa (Vimioso), Paulo de Lemos Quintela (Vouzela), Claudio Perdomo and Marcos Umpièrrez (both in Santa Lucía, Uruguay).

“The Becoming of the Commons” is also part of the Creative Europe project Tramontana Network, as it relates to the themes of agriculture, pastoralism, and forestry, currently being researched by the eleven partners from seven countries that comprise the network and that will result in a series of cultural, academic, and artistic productions to be announced over time.
