Teatro Viriato, Cine Clube de Viseu and Binaural Nodar come together to inhabit the geography of the Viseu Dão Lafões region. In this case, they propose the “Combi Nights” project, a set of cultural proposals integrated in the Viseu Dão Lafões Cultural Network that inspire people to enjoy spring and summer nights outdoors. Cinema, visual arts, performances and readings, are the suggestions part of this project that encourage the meeting and dialogue between the public and culture.

Binaural Nodar integrates two projects in the Combi Nights, both with the purpose of promoting relational aspects of the territory of Viseu Dão Lafões with other territories, through a creative dialogue between local and external creators who worked on themes that stimulate an understanding of rural cultural bonds, of mobility stories (eg from the countryside to the city), etc.

The first of the projects will be concerts by Sax on the Road, focused on his latest album “Lisboas” and accompanied by video interventions by Maile Colbert created from the Binaural Nodar Digital Archive , the combination of the two components evoking a historical relationship between the area of ​​Viseu Dão Lafões and Lisbon, representative of the flow from the countryside to the city, a movement that so many people from Beira took throughout the 20th century.

“Sax on the Road” is a musical project by António Ramos, which over the years has had the collaboration of several musicians such as António Pinto and Jorge Nunes, currently consisting of António Ramos (saxophone, loops and percussions) and Dolores Spínola (baritone guitar and percussion). “Sax on the Road” has already edited three CDs: “Hasta la vista”, “Kif-Kif Van” and “Lisboas”, all with illustrations by José Smith Vargas.

Maile Colbert is an American intermediate artist residing in Portugal who works with sound and video, being a collaborator of the artistic organization Binaural Nodar. She regularly contributes to the publication on acoustic ecology and sound studies Sounding Out. Her sonic, videographic and performative work has been presented in multiple international contexts, notably in New York: New York Film Festival, Ear to Earth Festival for Electronic Music Foundation, MoMA; in Los Angeles: LACE Gallery in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, REDCAT; and in other states: Portland International Documentary and Experimental Film Festival, Activating the Medium Festival in San Francisco, In Europe, in Portugal: Future Places Festival and Serralves em Festa (Porto), Teatro Municipal (Guarda); in other countries: theSons d’Hiver Festival (Paris), HOERENSEHEN 2.0 (Berlin), The Exchange Gallery (Cornwall, UK), Störung Festival (Barcelona), Observitori Festival (Valencia). She has also presented work in Japan, Mexico and Australia.

The Viseu Dão Lafões Cultural Network (RCVDL) is a cultural programming and co-production project created in 2015 by ACERT Tondela, Binaural Nodar, Cine Clube de Viseu, Teatro Viriato and the Teatro Montemuro. The structures associated with the RCVDL have long histories of collaborative work at various levels (local, regional, national and international), have established partnerships and complicity with different national and international entities, within the scope of networks, many of which are financed by community funds. All RCVDL structures are references of creative work, simultaneously committed to the territory of the Viseu Dão Lafões Intermunicipal Community, never failing to look for affinities that allow the territory to become more well known and dynamic at a cultural level.
