GRANJA ATIVA 2026
International Work Camp

Heritage documentation activity with students from Castro Daire Secondary School
June 2nd, 2026

The Granja Ativa 2026 project began on June 2nd with a first heritage documentation activity in the village of Granja, carried out by students from Castro Daire Secondary School, with the contribution of Liliana Silva and Andreia Mota from Binaural Nodar, who supported the students in the photographic and sound recording and in the cataloging of the heritage elements collected.

Binaural Nodar is a partner in the 2026 edition of the Granja Ativa 2026 International Work Camp, organized by the Grupo Desportivo e Recreativo da Granja, which will take place from July 23rd to August 2nd, 2026.

In addition to Binaural Nodar, this initiative includes a broad network of partners, among them the Municipality of Castro Daire, the Castro Daire Municipal Library, the Castro Daire School Cluster, and the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu. One of the main goals of Binaural Nodar’s involvement is the research, collection, and systematic recording of the village’s natural, built, tangible, and intangible heritage, ranging from infrastructure such as the Multipurpose Pavilion and the Ribeira Mill to sites of natural and historical value such as the Dorna Waterfall and the Tungsten Mines.

During the week of the International Work Camp, Binaural Nodar will run two central activities: a workshop on field sound recording and podcast creation, focused on documenting the built heritage, and the event “O Dia do Baldio” (Common Land Day).

The latter will consist of an artistic and interpretive walk through common lands — passing through places such as Lenteiro do Rio Mau, Redondelo, and Serra do Couço — promoting interaction between volunteers, the community, and specialists. This activity will feature the confirmed presence of anthropologist Ana Rodríguez and musicians Pau and Laia Puig Olives (the latter two as part of a partnership with the Sincròniques association), contributing to a performative and multidisciplinary interpretation of the communal areas.

Binaural Nodar is a cultural organization supported by the Portuguese Republic – Culture, Youth, and Sports | Directorate-General for the Arts.
