An initiative of Eth Ostau Comengés in partnership with Binaural Nodar, part of the Tramontana / Total Festum Festival, within the Tramontana Network project, co-funded by the Creative Europe program.

The coordinator of Binaural Nodar, Luís Costa, led the sound and oral expression workshop «The infinite listening of rural water», which aimed to encourage reflection among young participants from several villages in the French Pyrenees on the manifestations of water in rural settings.

With the support of Mathieu Fauré from the Eth Ostau Comengés association, Luís Costa proposed dividing the children into three groups so that they could capture some local sounds (the artificial lake, the Noue river, an orthogonal community washhouse, systems that draw water from the lake, etc.) using cardioid and directional microphones and hydrophones. The workshop ended with an account of the history of the washhouse and with the children singing in unison a local song related to water: “La molièra” (“the miller woman”).

Binaural Nodar is a cultural organization supported by the Portuguese Republic – Culture, Youth, and Sports | Directorate-General for the Arts.
