THE TIME OF THINGS
Guided Tours + Gatherings

June to August 2026
Várzea de Calde Linen Museum

As part of the exhibition “The Time of Things”, on display at the Várzea de Calde Linen Museum until August 30th, 2026, the public is invited to take part in a series of guided tours and gatherings, which will provide a more in-depth experience of the objects, memories, and stories that give shape to this community project.

Through these encounters, participants will be able to get to know the visual and audio exhibition “The Time of Things”, discover the testimonies collected from the local community, and reflect on the symbolic value of objects that have accompanied several generations. Among memories of self-sufficient rural life, emigration journeys, and experiences of working outside the villages, each object reveals a unique story of belonging, change, and identity.

The guided tours will make it possible to explore the exhibition and its electroacoustic composition, in which the “textures of the voices” of the participants play a central role. The gatherings, in turn, will be moments of conversation and sharing, promoting dialogue around memory, heritage, and the social transformations of rural communities.

“The Time of Things” is a production by Binaural Nodar, in partnership with the Municipality of Viseu, through the Várzea de Calde Linen Museum, with the Calde Civil Parish Council, and part of the European project Tramontana Network, co-funded by the Creative Europe Program.

The initiative grew out of a participatory process carried out between October 2024 and February 2025, involving the residents of the villages of the civil parish of Calde, who shared objects, memories, and testimonies that are now part of this exhibition.
