Between February and May 2017, Binaural/Nodar hosted at its Lafões.Cult.Lab in Vouzela the social researcher from Cardiff University, Dra. Cátia Rebelo, as part of the European Susplace project, funded by the European Commission’s Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, with the same researcher carrying out work in a village where Binaural/Nodar has been conducting ethnographic research for three years now: Carvalhal De Vermilhas, Viseu, Portugal, Municipality of Vouzela, Comunidade Intermunicipal da Região Dão Lafões.
As a result of this hosting, the documentary “LUGAR SENTIDO: CARVALHAL DE VERMILHAS” was made, by Cátia Rebelo and Luis Gomes da Costa, with directing assistance from Liliana Silva. The documentary consisted of a collective assessment by the village’s inhabitants of the village’s sense of place, which amounted to asking each one: what makes this village special?
As there has been a lot of curiosity about this film, and as we are in a period when the village’s emigrants are back to their roots, even if only for a brief period, we decided to publish the film in full, so that it can be viewed by all those who love or are interested in getting to know this beautiful village on the slopes of the Serra do Caramulo.
It remains for us to thank the collaboration of the village’s inhabitants who took part in the film, with special mention to the tireless Isabel Moita, coordinator of the Rancho Folclórico de Carvalhal de Vermilhas, who convened/convinced most of the people to take part!
Here is the documentary “LUGAR SENTIDO: CARVALHAL DE VERMILHAS”. We hope you enjoy it!
