Sketch & Sound
Workshop for discovering and expressing the sound and visual aspects of public space
Led by Luis Gomes da Costa, Liliana Silva and Manuela Barile
Municipal Library of the Municipality of Oliveira de Frades
7 May to 10 June 2018
Aimed at pre-school children of the municipality.
Modern life keeps children away from public space, which is a huge reversal compared to what happened until a few decades ago, especially outside major urban centres. It is therefore critical to reawaken, from an early age, practices of recognition and contact with the infinite nature of the sensory stimuli present in any natural space, village, town or city.
The Sketch & Sound workshop will consist of a series of wanderings through the public space of Oliveira de Frades, aimed at stimulating in children the relationship between the world of sound and the world of drawing, relating them, crossing them, contrasting them. The final result will be a series of sketches and sound recordings that will later be presented in other formats.
Workshop days: 7, 8, 10, 21, 22, 24 May; 6 and 20 June
Programme:
– 1:30 pm – Reception and guided tour of the Municipal Library facilities;
– 1:50 pm – Workshop: sketch & sound – each session will be 35 minutes; with two consecutive sessions per day.
– 2:25 pm – Storytelling session or viewing of a short film
– 3:00 pm – End of visit and return to the Kindergartens.
