“San Gregorio de Polanco: El lago en suspenso”

A winter afternoon in a suspended lakeside setting. A fishing boat sets off for another day’s work, families stroll, birds chirp, abandoned structures rest half-submerged.
The immense body of water in front of San Gregorio de Polanco is the result of the “Dr. Gabriel Terra” dam built on the Rio Negro near Rincón del Bonete, which in 1945 flooded the lower-lying riverside areas, forming a lake with more than 120 thousand hectares of surface area.
