Binaural Nodar, in partnership with the Municipality of São Pedro do Sul, the parish of Manhouce uma Freguesia para Viver and the direction of the group As Vozes de Manhouce, are pleased to announce the launch of the CD “Geografias do canto rural” (“Geographies of Rural Song”) by the group “As Vozes de Manhouce” with Isabel Silvestre, taking place on Saturday, 20/10 at 5:30 pm, at the Auditorium of the Balneário Rainha D. Amélia (S. Pedro do Sul Thermal Baths)

This CD was produced by Binaural/Nodar as part of its long-standing ethnographic and ethnomusicological research carried out in Manhouce since 2012, framed within the Tramontana Network – European Network of Mountain Memory Archives (Réseau Tramontana), featuring an introductory text by the renowned ethnomusicologist Dr. Rosário Pestana of the University of Aveiro.

This publication also celebrates the eightieth anniversary of the national promotion of Manhouce’s folklore, an emblematic village nestled in the Serra da Arada that came second place in the 1938 contest for the most Portuguese village in Portugal.

The CD will be on sale at various locations in the Lafões region, namely at the tourism offices of the municipality of São Pedro do Sul, at the headquarters of the Manhouce parish council and at the headquarters of Binaural/Nodar, at Rua do Seixo nº 5 in Vouzela, and it is also possible to order it by mail (write to diana.silva@binauralmedia.org for this purpose).
