Today, March 22, the second session of Lendas Sonoras de Lafões took place at the Escola Básica Integrada de Santa Cruz da Trapa (E.B.I. de Santa Cruz da Trapa), a project dedicated to rescuing, giving sound to, and expressing elements of the oral tradition of the Lafões municipalities.
Students of Prof. Paulo Fernandes, guided by Luis Gomes da Costa, read and recorded excerpts from six legends of the São Pedro do Sul municipality: “A lenda do diabo” (“The Legend of the Devil”), “A cova da serpente” (“The Serpent’s Den”), “A estrada assombrada” (“The Haunted Road”), “A cabra e o lobo” (“The Goat and the Wolf”), “O morto que matou o vivo” (“The Dead Man Who Killed the Living”) and “A Senhora das colmeias” (“The Lady of the Beehives”).
Sound elements from the landscape, to be captured by the students in upcoming sessions, will be added to these collective readings.
Many thanks to Prof. Paulo Fernandes and the Agrupamento de Escolas Santa Cruz da Trapa for the opportunity.
