Binaural Nodar is pleased to announce the show “Pontes Perenes sobre Águas Temporárias” (“Perennial Bridges Over Temporary Waters”), taking place in Vouzela on May 25 at 4pm, as part of the 6th Vitela de Lafões Food Festival organised by the Vouzela Municipality between May 24 and 26.
“Pontes Perenes sobre Águas Temporárias” is a project by Binaural/Nodar for the Rede Cultural Viseu Dão Lafões, in the form of a multidisciplinary concert for the multisensory and anthropological activation of bridges across the territory of the Viseu Dão Lafões Intermunicipal Community, using the surrounding context, the architectural features of the bridges and local stories to create unique, unrepeatable experiences.
The “Pontes Perenes sobre Águas Temporárias” show will take place on the banks of the Zela river, next to the so-called “Roman” bridge, located precisely on Rua da Ponte. As part of the performance, the sounds of the surrounding landscape will be activated, local stories about the bridge will be told, and tribute will be paid to the strong musical tradition of the municipality, with the participation of members of the Sociedade Musical Vouzelense and the Folk Group of the Associação Cultural Desportiva e Recreativa de Vouzela.
In this particular show, scenes and stories from the life of Rua da Ponte in other times will be told and staged — from the people who came to town for the market, walking down from Costeira after following the old path from Paços de Vilharigues (part of an ancient Roman road linking the mountains to the coast), to stories of the Fonte da Nogueira spring right next to the bridge, the fishing once done in the Zela river, and memories of some wealthy families and their close relationship with the families of caretakers who looked after the houses and lands on Rua da Ponte.
