Binaural Nodar celebrated World Children’s Day with the workshop “Ouço, Lembro, Sinto” (“I Hear, I Remember, I Feel”), held at the Museu do Linho de Várzea de Calde (Viseu Museums), with the participation of children from the Várzea de Calde Kindergarten and the Calde Primary School (Calde Parish Council), as part of the Viseu Culture Programme of the Viseu Municipality.
The workshop used the “We Are All Memory” methodology developed by Binaural Nodar, which encourages the awareness that memory is not necessarily something external to be accessed, but rather part of the individual and collective heritage of every human being, regardless of age, social condition or geographic origin.
Thus, the children searched their own mental chest for accounts of their (brief) past and of the childhood memories passed down by their relatives (parents, aunts and uncles, grandparents, etc.), recorded their voices and read excerpts of regional literature from Várzea de Calde — also a form of memory, with the (subtle) difference of having been set down in ink on paper by older generations.
