On April 29th and 30th, three performances of the play “A Stranger from our Land,” a community production by Rui Catalão, were presented at the Castro Daire Municipal Auditorium and the João Ribeiro Cinema-Theater in Vouzela.
Just over 30 kilometers away, young people from São Tomé and Príncipe attend vocational schools in Vouzela and Castro Daire, without knowing one another. The project was designed to complement their education, fostering relationships among participants and strengthening their connection to the communities where they lived, thereby facilitating their integration beyond school life.
Following weekly sessions on memory and expression, conducted in two parallel groups in both locations, the combined result was presented to the public in these three performances.
The initiative was supported by the Portuguese Republic — Culture, Youth, and Sports, Directorate-General for the Arts, and was part of the activities of the Tramontana Network, co-funded by the European Union’s Creative Europe program.
