THE TIME OF THINGS
Visual and Audio Exhibition

April 18th – August 30th, 2026
Várzea de Calde Linen Museum

The community project “The Time of Things” highlights the symbolic value of objects that have accompanied several generations, bringing together memories, emotions, and stories linked both to self-sufficient rural life and to the social transformations experienced by communities, particularly emigration and educational journeys outside the villages.

Inherited objects symbolized a connection to the land, traditions, and rural ways of life, while objects brought from other countries bore witness to trajectories of change and adaptation.

The visual and audio exhibition invited the public to discover and hear the stories associated with these objects, through an electroacoustic composition in which the “textures of voices” are highlighted.

Organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Viseu, the Várzea de Calde Linen Museum, and the Calde Civil Parish Council, the initiative included gatherings for sharing memories between October 2024 and February 2025, which culminated in the exhibition. The curators thanked the residents of the civil parishes for their participation, as they contributed meaningful objects and their testimonies.
