FROM LENT TO EASTER

Parish of Cambra (Vouzela)
A co-production by Binaural Nodar and the Municipality of Vouzela, in partnership with Vouzelar—Association for the Promotion of Vouzela, the Parish of Cambra, the Union of Parishes of Cambra and Carvalhal de Vermilhas, and the Cultural and Recreational Association of Cambra.
From Lent to Easter, a significant time in the Christian calendar, the parish of Cambra reenacts the final days of Jesus Christ’s life. In keeping with the liturgical season, various expressions of faith take place over several weeks, blending spirituality and demonstrating that religious tradition remains alive.
Thus, from the sobriety and penance associated with the color purple—which remind us of human frailty—the community prepares to joyfully celebrate Easter and the Resurrection, with the color white predominating.
This journey is being closely followed and documented in detail. In addition to the weekly reenactment of key moments at the High Altar of the Church of Cambra, images of the solemn processions will be collected, and interviews are being conducted with current and former stewards of the Lord, who are responsible for ensuring the preservation of all the rites of Lent every decade. All of this material, once cataloged and transcribed, will become part of the Vouzela Memory Archive, a digital archiving project by Binaural Nodar and the Municipality of Vouzela.
Interviews and photographic and video recordings by Andreia Mota (Binaural Nodar).
