THE TIME OF THINGS
Community Gathering
Tuesday, January 6, 3:00 p.m.
Várzea de Calde Linen Museum (Calde, Viseu)
Everyone lives surrounded by objects that carry more than just their physical matter—they bring with them stories, memories, and affections that cross generations and, often, territories.
In the context of the development of the third edition of the project “O Tempo das Coisas” (The Time of Things), which has been running since last October in the villages of the civil parish of Calde, a community gathering will be held, in which local residents and the participating public can bring objects of personal value to share their stories.
The project “O Tempo das Coisas” consists of a collection of memories of personal objects, whether those that have been kept since the ancestors who lived in a context of self-sufficient rurality, from farm tools to traditional crafts and objects of family life, but also those that bear witness to the social changes that rural communities have experienced in recent decades, especially the experience of emigration.
The third edition of the project “O Tempo das Coisas” is carried out in collaboration with the Municipality of Viseu, through the Linen Museum of Várzea de Calde and the Civil Parish Council of Calde, and is also part of the Creative Europe Tramontana Network project. The result will be a photographic and sound exhibition, to be inaugurated in the first quarter of 2026.
