GRADUATION PROGRAMME “FROM THE AUDIBLE TO AURAL”

February to June 2026
With the participation of Luís Costa

Luís Costa, coordinator of Binaural Nodar and PhD researcher in artistic creation at the ID+ (University of Aveiro) and LiDA (School of Art and Design, Caldas da Rainha) laboratories, will be one of the teachers on the Diploma Program “From the Audible to the Aural: The social turn in sound studies,” co-organized by the Ibermemoria Sonora, Fotográfica e Audiovisual Program and the National Sound Archive of Mexico.

The objectives of this fourth edition of the diploma program focus on transdisciplinary training, situated at the intersection between the social sciences and the humanities, whose goals are to provide participants with theoretical and methodological tools to develop social research projects in the field of sound and listening studies, and to constitute a space for exchange and the production of critical knowledge.

The program is aimed at professionals who have completed their undergraduate studies (or equivalent), graduate students, researchers, and teachers, preferably with profiles related to the field of social sciences and humanities and with an ongoing or upcoming project related to the program’s themes.

The seminar proposed by Luís Costa will take place on May 21, 2026, and is entitled “Sonando el intersticio: ecologías acústicas, multisensorialidad y conexiones translocales” (Sound in the interstice: acoustic ecologies, multisensory experiences, and translocal connections), proposing a problematization of the relationship between sound and the other senses, based on physical presence in specific places, as well as the interest in the concept of relational listening, which develops between different territories.

The program will begin on February 5th and end on June 25, 2026. It is coordinated by Dr. Ana Lidia M. Domínguez Ruiz and will include 80 hours of virtual seminars.
