The “Architecture in Rural Context” catalogue is now available for sale at the website of the Northern Regional Section of the Portuguese Architects Association. An edition of Ordem dos Arquitectos and an original idea of the extinct Group of Architects of  the Viseu Region (NARV) and which has the partnership of Binaural Nodar, in addition to other local entities, such Lapa do Lobo Foundation, several municipalities in the region of Viseu and Turismo Centro Portugal.

The “Architecture in Rural Context” catalogue stems from the exhibition with the same title, promoted by NARV between 2018 and 2020 in several villages, towns and cities in the region of Viseu, which was also a consequence of a challenge made by Binaural Nodar so that the exhibition integrated the program of the Ocupai Festival, held at Praia Fluvial de Destriz (Oliveira de Frades) in June 2018.

In this edition, photographs and descriptive texts of various architectural experiences (works, projects and studies) can be found, spanning throughout over 200 pages, including a selection of images from 31 works, designed between 2001 and 2018 «by architects who, individually or in association, in the private or public sector, work in different areas, in architectural heritage, urban rehabilitation and territorial planning», explains Pedro Silva, coordinator of the exhibition and the catalogue.

The catalogue includes several introductory texts, including the text “Thinking about the inhabiting from rural childhood homes” by Luis Gomes da Costa, coordinator of Binaural Nodar.
