Last Friday, March 8, International Women’s Day, Binaural Nodar and Mapa Sonoro de Uruguay held a joint activity at the Castro Daire Municipal Library (Portugal) titled “Mulheres de Terra e Água” (Women of Earth and Water).

This activity, coordinated simultaneously by Luis Gomes da Costa and Ana Rodríguez, consisted of listening to and viewing a set of sound and audiovisual recordings from rural contexts of Viseu Dão Lafões and northern Uruguay, followed by a sharing of memories among the women present at the event.

The final result will be the sound piece “Mulheres de Terra e Água”, bringing together the various contributions gathered, which will be released in due course.

Many thanks to Dr. Marta Carvalhal, director of the Castro Daire Municipal Library, and to all the participants in the gathering, wonderful women of the Castro Daire community.
