Next Thursday, April 4, 2019, at 11am, the technical workshop “Memórias Rurais: Recolher, Arquivar e Partilhar” will take place at the Castro Daire Municipal Library. This workshop is being organised following the launch of the “Memória sobre Rodas” (“Memory on Wheels”) project in the Castro Daire municipality, and aims to share with municipal teams concepts, workflows and techniques that provide a solid foundation for systematic work in ethnographic collection, archiving processes, and the types of initiatives for sharing with different audiences.
The workshop is led by Binaural Nodar, a professional cultural organisation from the region that has, since 2006, been dedicated to sound and multimedia ethnographic research, contemporary artistic creation and heritage education, and which currently leads the Creative Europe Tramontana project — a European network of memory archives from mountain regions, with the participation of international specialists in various fields of knowledge: sound and visual anthropology, ethnomusicology, ethnolinguistics, soundscapes, multimedia artistic creation, etc.
The various modules of the “Memórias Rurais: Recolher, Arquivar e Partilhar” workshop will be taught by Luis Gomes da Costa, coordinator of Binaural/Nodar, Liliana Silva, communications and multimedia manager at Binaural/Nodar, and Ana Rodríguez, Uruguayan anthropologist and coordinator of the Mapa Sonoro de Uruguay project, which has an active partnership with Binaural/Nodar to develop projects connecting rural communities on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.
