TRAINING IS A GAME, GAME IS EMOTION

Social groups develop codes of communication among their members in a more or less spontaneous way. Competitive sports are a clear example of this “language” of gestures, sounds, words, and expressions, which ultimately contributes to the formation of the specificity of each context.

Starting from a sporting context she knows well as a player, women’s futsal in the Viseu region, Nely Ferreira, a collaborator at Binaural Nodar and a final-year student on the Multimedia Technologies and Design course at the School of Technology and Management of the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu (ESTGV), has developed the artistic creation ‘Training is a game, game is emotion’, which explored the sound, visual, and expressive environment of the senior women’s futsal team of Clube Desportivo Cinfães.

The project included sound and photographic recordings of training sessions and official games, as well as interviews with players, and is now being presented to the club’s community in the context of a multidisciplinary installation at the Armando Costa Municipal Pavilion in Cinfães.

The artist, ESTGV, and Binaural Nodar would like to thank the management of Clube Desportivo Cinfães for their willingness to host this artistic project.
