THE ART OF THE CARAMULAN ENCOUNTER
Artist Residency
April 10th to 13th, 2025
Lafões Cult Lab (Vouzela)

The Master’s Degree in Contemporary Artistic Creation at the University of Aveiro and Binaural Nodar celebrate fourteen years of continuous partnership in 2025, which has seen the development of multiple joint activities over the years, including an annual artist residency, co-organized in the Viseu Dão Lafões region since 2011, which in 2022 led to the retrospective exhibition “Between Times and Places” held at the Department of Communication and Art of the University of Aveiro.

The concept behind this long-standing partnership has been linked to the idea of complementarity, both territorial, with the Vouga River as a symbol of the connection between river, mountain, and maritime communities, and artistic, with soundscapes and sound art as interesting areas for inclusion in contemporary artistic creation projects from a multidisciplinary perspective.
Between April 10th and 13th, 2025, another artist residency will take place in Vouzela, associated with the partnership between the Department of Communication and Art of the University of Aveiro and Binaural Nodar, in which about twenty students and teachers will be present. as part of the activities of the Tramontana Network (https://www.re-tramontana.org), a project co-financed by the Creative Europe program and related to artistic and archival practices in rural mountain contexts in Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Romania, Albania, and Poland.
