Land, people, sound

Voices, sounds and words, a walking diary, a project to be developed in and around Vouzela that associates sound creation and walking, in an organic manner. It’s a slow process of emergence of sound writing and introspective text, melodies and rhythms, of the body and its position in the environment, day after day and step by step, through the rigor of a repeated exercise as well as the release of the creative process.

From her first life as a visual artist, graduate of E.N.S.A.D, Emilie Bahuaud kept the drawing and a sense of appropriation of techniques. But it’s the music that occupies her life, with different short term or long term formations, in the encounter and improvisation. In parallel, she’s been slowly building an experimental solo project. The limits of the exercise of the voice strike and the texts from an imaginary language to a head-on expression seduce. Her universeis at the same time fragile and intense.

She adds drums, keyboards and numerical instruments. Through regular concerts and performances, she explores different approaches of her solo work on different grounds. She’s also an active member of the artistic collective La Generale en Manufacture where she’s been working for more than three years. She’s used to organize concerts in the underground area, and recently began different collaborative projects with other musicians but also writers, filmmakers, and visual artists, like a radio piece, a workshop in a psychiatric hospital, readingsand discussions.
