Artist Residency and Sound Installation

From November 16th to 20th, sound artist Tomás Quintais will be in an artist residency in Rebordinho (Campia, Vouzela), a village hit by the wildfires of 2017 and 2026. Through field recordings and conversations with the people who live there, the artist seeks to listen to the sounds that the fire took away and those that remained.
The result will be presented on Saturday, November 28th, at 3:00 p.m., with the meeting point at the Casa dos Compartes de Rebordinho e Malhadouro.
“From its silence, it is possible to hear a set of field recordings captured on site, which evoke practices and sounds that have since disappeared — sonorities that now return, like specters, to the life of the village. What sounds could once be heard that are now condemned to silence?”
