Festa da Castanha e do Mel em Macieira (São Pedro do Sul)
A Festa da Castanha e do Mel de 2011 decorre em Macieira, na
freguesia de Sul (concelho de S. Pedro do Sul), nos dias 12 e 13
de Novembro (sábado e domingo). A iniciativa constituirá
uma mostra do património natural e cultural riquíssimo da
região, o qual será apresentado sob diferentes formas, aliando
os aspectos mais tradicionais à inovação: artesanato,
gastronomia, passeio sonoro, documentários realizados na região
pela Binaural/Nodar, concertinas, danças e cantares
tradicionais.

Chestnut and Honey Feast in Macieira (São Pedro do Sul, PT)
The annual Chestnut and Honey Feast takes place in Macieira,
civil parish of Sul (municipality of S. Pedro do Sul,
Portugal), on 12th and 13th November 2011 (Saturday and
Sunday). The initiative will be a presentation of the rich
natural and cultural heritage of the region, which will be
presented in different forms, combining innovation with
tradition: crafts exhibition, gastronomy workshops and
exhibition, sound walks, documentary films made in the region
by Binaural/Nodar, concertinas, traditional dances and songs,
etc.

Visita guiada pela artista com degustação de produtos do Maciço da Gralheira no dia 9 de Novembro às 21h00.
“Manuela Barile e o Sentido do Lugar” é uma exposição retrospectiva de obras multimédia de Manuela Barile, com curadoria da Binaural/Nodar, que reconstrói a trajectória criativa da artista italiana desde que chegou a Portugal em 2006 até 2011. Desde 2006, a artista vive e trabalha na região rural do maciço da Gralheira (S. Pedro do Sul) desenvolvendo projectos em estreito contacto com as comunidades locais que combinam a antropologia visual e sonora, a performance art, a performance vocal, a vídeo arte, tocando em questões como a morte, a felicidade, a pobreza e a emigração.

“Manuela Barile and the Sense of Place” is a retrospective
exhibition of multimedia works by Manuela Barile, curated by
Binaural / Nodar, which reconstructs the creative trajectory
of this Italian artist since she came to Portugal, in 2006,
until 2011. Since 2006, the artist lives and works in the
rural area of Gralheira mountain range (S. Pedro do Sul,
Portugal) where she develops projects in close contact with
local communities that combine sound and visual anthropology,
performance art, vocal performance, video art , touching on
issues such as death, happiness, poverty and emigration.

“Moroloja”, uma pesquisa áudio / visual sobre a experiência
simbólica e ritual do luto, dirigida por Manuela Barile,
co-directora artística da Binaural / Nodar foi seleccionada para
o Festival CologneOFF 2011 Mexico & Cuba - Videoart in a
Global Context, a decorrer entre 10 Novembro e 2 Dezembro 2011.

“Moroloja”
by Manuela Barile in Cuba and Mexico
"Moroloja," an audio / visual research about the symbolic
experience on the ritual of mourning, directed by Manuela
Barile, artistic director of Binaural / Nodar was selected for
the 2011 CologneOFF Mexico & Cuba Festival - Videoart in a
Global Context, to happen between November 10th and December

“G.D. Parada” de Duncan Whitley @ Countertext, Bridport (UK)
“G.D. Parada”, um projecto de Duncan Whitley e produzido pela Binaural / Nodar, faz parte de “Countertext”, uma coleção de instalações transmedia e eventos para complementar o Festival do Livro de Bridport, incluindo escultura, vídeo, som e performance, com curadoria de David Rogers e Nigel Slight. A obra de Duncan Whitley, uma projecção vídeo de texto acompanhada de áudio estéreo, foi concebida a partir de recolhas efectuadas na aldeia de Parada de Ester (Castro Daire) e estará patente entre 18 e 26 de Novembro no MediaLab da LabCulture em Bridport.(EN)

Parada” by Duncan Whitley @ Countertext, Bridport (UK)
“G.D. Parada”, a work by Duncan Whitley and produced by
Binaural/Nodar is part of Countertext, a collection of
transmedia installations and events to complement the Bridport
Open Book Festival including sculpture, video, sound and
performance, curated by David Rogers and Nigel Slight. “G.D.
Parada” draws on the subject of an amateur football team, ‘Grupo
Desportivo de Parada’, in rural Portugal. With
delicately-crafted sound recordings and transcribed interviews
as the driving, rhythmic body of the work, the artist places
sound into new relationships with text and video images. The
piece will be exhibited between 18 and 26 November at
LabCulture's MediaLab in Bridport.

Luís Costa será orador no Congresso de Geoturismo Arouca 2011
Luís Costa, presidente da Binaural/Nodar e da Associação Aldeias de Magaio será orador no Congresso Internacional de Geoturismo Arouca 2011 a decorrer entre 9 e 13 de Novembro e organizado pelo Geoparque de Arouca, no âmbito do qual apresentará um artigo científico escrito conjuntamente com a Arqª Maria Carlos Valverde, intitulado "Landscape, Heritage and Local Participation as Building Blocks for a Rural Park Framework" ("Paisagem, Património e Participação Local como Blocos Constitutivos do Conceito de Parque Rural").

Luís Costa speaks at Arouca 2011 Geotourism Congress
Luis Costa, president of Binaural / Nodar and Aldeias de
Magaio Villages Network will be a speaker at the International
Congress of Geotourism Arouca 2011 taking place between 9 and
13 November and organized by Arouca Geopark, in which he will
present a scientific paper jointly written with Arch. Maria
Carlos Valverde, entitled "Landscape, Heritage and Local
Participation as Building Blocks for Rural Park Framework".
