O trabalho de campo dos artistas irá tomar como tema de expressão a riquíssima fonosfera sacra nas aldeias rurais do maciço da Gralheira, enquadrado por um sentido de promoção de um diálogo franco e aberto com as instituições religiosas locais.
São as seguintes as tipologias temáticas passíveis de serem objecto de projectos artísticos e de pesquisa experimental:
- Hagiografia rural: Lendas de santos e milagres locais.
- Histórias paroquiais: Memória da relação histórica local com a religião.
- A religião e os temas de género e geracionais.
- Património religioso construído: Igrejas, capelas, cruzeiros, santuários, alminhas e cemitérios.
- Património religioso objectual: vestes, cruzes, andores, cálices, livros, etc.
- Património musical religioso local.
- Ritos sagrados calendarísticos e não calendarísticos: Festas, missas, casamentos, batizados e funerais.
- A fonosfera religiosa na paisagem: Toques de sinos, cânticos, procissões, foguetes.
- O sagrado no espaço privado: Rezas e rosários; Iconografia religiosa na casa rural.
- A religião e os ciclos agrícolas.

The program of creative labs in sound art and experimental research
for 2013 will have as theme the rich religious phonosphere found
in the rural villages of the Gralheira mountain range (Portugal),
within a framework of promoting an open and frank dialogue with local
religious institutions.
The following are the specific themes that may be the subject of
artistic projects and experimental researches:
- Rural hagiography: Legends of local saints and miracles.
- Parish Stories: Memory of the local historical relationship with religion.
- Religion, gender and generational issues.
- Built Religious Heritage: Churches, chapels, sanctuaries, shrines and cemeteries.
- Object religious heritage: garments, crosses, litters, chalices, books, etc..
- Local religious musical heritage.
- Sacred rites: Celebrations, Masses, weddings, baptisms and funerals.
- Religious phonosphere in the landscape: Bell tolls, chants, processions, fireworks.
- The sacred in the private sphere: Prayers and rosaries, religious iconography in the rural house.
- Religion and the agricultural cycles.

A Binaural/Nodar e a Associação de Artesãos de São Pedro do Sul anunciam uma parceria para a realização de residências artísticas internacionais em arte têxtil contemporânea no edifício da Estação de Artes e Sabores (antiga estação de caminhos de ferro de São Pedro do Sul).
Podem candidatar-se todos os artistas têxteis nas suas várias técnicas, com um portefólio anterior de obras têxteis contemporâneas com um linguagem vincadamente própria, que desejem uma imersão numa região de montanha com uma riqueza cultural ancestral.
As residências artísticas têm como objectivo aliar os temas da cultura local (fauna, flora, atividades agrícolas, cores, texturas, património construído, património imaterial, etc. etc.) a um sentido inovador de pesquisa de conceitos, formas, materiais e cores, ajudando assim a colocar a região como um local de eleição para a inovação nas artes artesanais.
As residências têm uma duração de três semanas e um custo de 2.000 Euros, incluindo alimentação, alojamento, acesso aos teares, aprendizagem em técnicas de tecelagem local, materiais necessários para as obras, visitas a locais de interesse da região.
As candidaturas estão abertas em permanência e são concretizadas através do envio de um email para Luís Costa (luis@binauralmedia.org), incluindo CV/biografia, carta de motivação e portefólio anterior com imagens de boa qualidade.

Binaural / Nodar and Associação de Artesãos de São Pedro do Sul (Artisans Cooperative of São Pedro do Sul, PT) announce a partnership to host international artist residencies in contemporary textile art at the Estação de Artes e Sabores building (former railway station of São Pedro do Sul).
All textile artists may apply, being favoured those with a portfolio of contemporary textile art works, with a personal creative language and who wish to immerse in a mountainous region with a rich ancestral culture. The residencies are designed to combine the themes of the local culture (fauna, flora, agriculture, colors, textures, architectural heritage, intangible heritage, etc.) with a sense of innovative research in concepts, shapes, materials and colors, helping to put the region as a place for innovation in the craft arts.
The residences have a duration of three weeks and a cost of 2.000 Euros, including food, accommodation, access to looms, learning of the local weaving techniques, materials required for the works, visits to places of interest in the region. Half of the amount is to be transferred to the day preceding the beginning of the residency and the second half by the end of the second week of the residency.

participa em projeto europeu de arquivos media
A Binaural/Nodar iniciou em 1 Maio 2012 a participação no projeto
europeu Tramontana, uma rede de arquivos sonoros e videográficos de
zonas de montanha de língua românica. O projeto é financiado pelo programa Cultura 2007-2013 e conta numa primeira fase com a participação de organizações de Portugal, França e Itália, especialistas em vários domínios, etnomusicologia, paisagens sonoras, antropologia visual, etno-linguística e etno-coreologia.
O resultado final do projecto Tramontana consistirá na realização de centenas de registos sonoros e visuais a aspectos diversos da memória dos vários territórios integrantes e na elaboração e partilha de um corpo de documentação metodológica e de boas práticas nas áreas de arquivística media, métodos de gravação sonora e vídeo, etc.
Toda a informação ficará disponível online num site geral do projeto e em sites individuais dos vários arquivos integrantes, entre os quais o Arquivo da Memória de Lafões coordenado pela Binaural/Nodar.

Binaural/Nodar participates in a media archive european project
Binaural / Nodar began on May 1, 2012 the participation in the
European project Tramontana, a sound and video archive network of
Romance language mountain areas.
The project is funded by the Culture 2007-2013 program and has a
first phase with the participation of organizations from Portugal,
France and Italy, experts in various fields, ethnomusicology,
soundscapes, visual anthropology, ethno-linguistic and
ethno-choreology.
The final outcome of the Tramontana project will consist in hundreds
of sound and video recordings on different aspects of the territories’
local memory and in the conception and sharing of a body of
methodological documentation and best practices in the areas of media
archival, sound and video recording techinques etc.
All information will be available online in the project site and in individual sites of the several archives, including the Memory Archive of Lafões (Portugal) coordinated by Binaural / Nodar.

Binaural/Nodar na 6ª Open House – Festa Internacional da Arquitetura (Viseu)
6ª Open House – Festa Internacional da Arquitectura na CatólicaOrganização: Curso de Arquitectura da Universidade Católica de Viseu
4 a 6 de Junho de 2012
A Binaural/Nodar encontra-se neste momento a preparar uma parceria estratégica com o curso de arquitectura da Universidade Católica de Viseu, a qual se desenvolverá num primeiro momento em dois domínios complementares:
a) Co-organização de um projecto social de requalificação de património arquitectónico das aldeias tradicionais, intitulado “Terra Amada”, o qual terá o envolvimento das comunidades locais, de professores e alunos do curso de arquitectura, da Diocese de Viseu, de patrocinadores de materiais de construção, etc.
b) Co-organização do workshop de abertura do Ano Lectivo de 2012-2013, no qual estarão presentes todos os alunos do curso de arquitectura, os quais desenvolverão trabalho de campo durante dois dias e apresentarão posteriormente maquetes, posters e slides digitais com ideias para novos edifícios / novas valências de edifícios nas aldeias do maciço da Gralheira.
A este propósito, e no âmbito da 6ª Open House, a Binaural/Nodar efectuará no dia 5 de Junho às 10h30 uma apresentação multimédia das suas actividades e participará na apresentação das duas iniciativas referidas, em paralelo com o director e vice-director do curso de arquitectura, respectivamente os Arqºs Fernando Gonçalves e António Carvalho.
A participação da Binaural/Nodar ficará a cargo de Luís Costa, presidente da direcção e de Maria Carlos Valverde, coordenadora na associação das acções ligadas à arquitectura.

O nosso mais pequeno gesto é indutor de sons e toda a nossa vida social pressupõe a criação de um enquadramento sonoro, feito de voz, matéria, usos, trabalhos, etc. Num certo sentido é possível referir que o som é uma ferramenta social de grande valia, pelo grau de detalhe e de especificidade que pode conferir ao conhecimento das comunidades e das suas interacções quotidianas e pelos impactos positivos em processos identitários e de auto-estima dos grupos sociais. Hoje em dia, a importância crescente dada aos aspectos da memória colectiva ou individual exige novas metodologias que tratem especificamente a utilização do som na captação, documentação e expressão dessa memória.
Este seminário tem como objectivo o desenvolvimento de metodologias de aquisição de competências no trabalho educativo (em ambiente escolar ou não) para a utilização do som como ferramenta de inegável valor para a descoberta de um território e respectivas comunidades, incorporando um sentido multidisciplinar pelo recurso a ferramentas provenientes de diferentes áreas científicas / técnicas.
O seminário “Educazione al Paesaggio Sonoro” é proposto pela Binaural/Nodar e está integrado no simpósio “L’Osso che Canta”, organizado pela Associação italiana Bambun e dedicado à etnomusicologia, antropologia e som em espaço rural.

Our smallest gesture induces sounds and our entire social life involves creating a sound framework, made of voices, subjects, tools, activities, etc. In a sense it is possible to note that sound is a valuable social tool because of the degree of detail and specificity it can give to the knowledge of communities and their daily interactions and because of the positive impact sound has on identity processes and self-esteem of social groups. Today, the increasing importance given to aspects of individual or collective memory requires new methodologies that deal specifically with the use of sound in the capture, documentation and expression of memory.
This seminar aims to develop methodologies for the acquisition of skills in educational work (in a school context or not) using sound as a valuable tool to the discovery of a territory and its communities, at the same time incorporating a multidisciplinary sense by the use of tools from different scientific areas / techniques.
The seminar “Educazione al Paesaggio Sonoro” is coordinated by Binaural / Nodar and is integrated in the “L’Osso che Canta” (“The Bone that Sings”) symposium organized by the Italian organization Bambun and devoted to ethnomusicology, anthropology and sound in rural areas.
