The starting point is the Binaural Nodar Digital Archive (Portugal), which preserves sound and audiovisual documents related to the mountainous territories of the Viseu Dão Lafões region.

Nicolò Minisi aims to create a site-specific sound artwork that reflects the theme of mountain landscapes through the concept of a digital afterlife: a space where the voice escapes time, continuing to live as an echo. The installation will be conceived as an acoustic memorial, placed on the heights, reintroducing collected sounds into the landscape: voices bouncing between peaks, fading away, returning. Memory becomes sound waves, in dialogue with space and its resonances.

The project reflects on the archive’s role as a living organism -not only a place of preservation but a narrative machine capable of restoring what is absent. Digitizing memory means nourishing it both technologically and physically: what was once a body becomes a trace, and what is a trace can return to presence.

The proposal is based on rethinking the archive: no longer a static container, but a voice in constant transformation. The prefix “Re” – Re-play, Re-post, Re-ady made – always evokes a return that is also a rebirth, a gesture looking back in order to move forward. The archive becomes Ready thought- thought ready to cross time.

The project celebrates oral memory, soundscapes, and the dialogue between tradition and contemporaneity. Sound, as a tool for intergenerational transmission, here offers itself as a bridge between what was and what can happen in the future.

Biography:

Nicolò Minisi, born in Genoa in 2000 and now based in Milan, is an emerging Italian artist whose practice spans painting and visual arts.
