The fulling mill is a building with a rotating wooden mechanism used to make &#8220;burel&#8221; (loden), a type of waterproof wool fabric that was traditionally used to make hoods.<\/p>\n<p>Over the last few months, a series of community activities have been developed in the village, including collections on the role of wool and burel and on the history of the pis\u00e3o, a sound tour, and interpretive visits to other architectural elements of the village, such as the Blacksmith&#8217;s Workshop, which was restored a few years ago as a museum space.<\/p>\n<p>The activity \u201cWool, Fulling, Loden\u201d represents the culmination of this program of activities, including a visit to the blacksmith&#8217;s workshop, a walk through the village and to the banks of the Vouga River, an interpretive visit on how fulling works, an audiovisual installation entitled &#8220;Wool, Fulling, Loden&#8221; which expresses the cycle of audiovisual recordings in a contemporary narrative, an exhibition of wool and burel fabrics from the local community, and ending with a gastronomic gathering with the local population.<\/p>\n<p>The event is free of charge and no reservation is required.
