Elementary Allomorphy
\nAn artist residency on the theme of the typical black clay of Ribolhos.

A co-production between Binaural Nodar, the Municipality of Castro Daire through the Community Library and the Parish of Mamouros, Alva and Ribolhos.
\nAs part of the regular programming of the Oficina do Barro Negro de Ribolhos, an exibihition space inaugurated in September of 2023, an artist’s residency will be hosted by Ana Margarida Ferreira.<\/p>\n

The creative project entitled \u201cElementary Allomorphy\u201d is based on a reflection on the primal forces of nature present in the process of creating with black clay, such as earth, water, air and fire. The master potter searches for the clay in watery lands and then brings the earth and water together to make the clay. Once the piece is finished, the clay rests in a drying process, losing the element of air. Finally, the fire encompasses and transforms the piece into something immutable, with its firing.<\/p>\n

In \u201cElemental Allomorphy\u201d, the progressive stages for the construction of black clay pieces will be represented through two symmetrical pieces of wood, but with different textures, to which a sound component will be associated, focusing on the elements of water, fire and air.<\/p>\n

Creation implies a metamorphosis, an evolution from the previous form to the next, and in the specific case of clay, molding through the potter’s hands assumes the condition of an archaic and unique signature, with each molded piece being a strictly singular result and distinct from any piece previously created.<\/p>\n

Ana Margarida Ferreira has a degree in Fine Arts from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Porto and a master’s degree in Contemporary Artistic Creation from the University of Aveiro. She has already taken part in group exhibitions such as \u201cDa Sombra\u201d (Ermesinde, 2020), \u201cEstado de Emerge\u0302ncia\u201d (Viseu, 2021), \u201cEntre Tempos e Lugares\u201d (Aveiro, 2022) and \u201cHippocampus\u201d (Vilnius, 2023). In 2023 she developed the creative project \u201cJanelas de Outrora\u201d, conceived and inaugurated in the village of Nogueira de Co\u0302ta (Viseu) and since March 2023 she has been a production and multimedia technician at Binaural Nodar.<\/p>\n
