The project tries to establish connections between art and the geographical and social context, creating and curating projects that can generate new meanings on themes such as territory, identity and memory. Luís Costa will talk about the origins and methodologies followed by the organization, as well as proposing some sound excerpts that illustrate them.

Mapa Sonoro de Uruguay (“Sound Map of Uruguay”) is a cartography that proposes the listening of a little-known Uruguay, resonances of a territory that is larger than we imagine. Sound documents from the Ecos Antípodas project (that links Uruguay and Portugal) will be heard, as well as the testimony of anthropologist Ana Rodriguez, the project’s creator.

“If we opened people we would find landscapes”, a title that quotes a fragment from Agnès Varda’s film “The Beaches” (2008), is a site-specific intervention developed by Luciano Piccilli as part of the artist residency ” Echoes of leaving and returning “, organized by Binaural Nodar in 2023. During his stay, the artist collected testimonies from migrants talking about their home landscapes. These voices were affected by a procedure similar to that of a mirror: a tautology or sound bending that affects the matter of the mirror, resonating it and recovering the traces of the territory as a portal of memories and affective spaces.

The Centro de Arte Sonoro (CASo) is the first institution in Argentina dedicated to research, creation and dissemination of artistic practices based on sound and listening. Created in 2017 and since then located on the third floor of the Casa Nacional del Bicentenario, CASo generates meeting contexts and critical reflection through the production of exhibitions, concerts, workshops, residencies and publications. Radio CASo offers continuous music programming, radio experimentation, interviews and podcasts. The activities of the Centro de Arte Sonoro encourage the participation of musicians, artists and researchers from Argentina, Latin America and the rest of the world. The Centro de Arte Sonoro is a platform for collective learning and a space in permanent mutation. Its research focuses on bringing theory closer to practice and questioning established ways of experiencing listening, with the aim of redefining the public sphere of a cultural institution.

https://centrodeartesonoro.cultura.gob.ar/

Binaural Nodar is a cultural organization supported by the Portuguese Government – Culture | Directorate-General for the Arts.

[1184

post-20302","post","type-post","status-publish","format-audio","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news-2","post_format-post-format-audio
["GET
