DANCE, TRADITION AND IDENTITY

Binaural Nodar, the Municipality of Vouzela and the Vocational School of Vouzela are pleased to announce a contemporary dance show aimed at the local school community, with the presentation of two works created by Presente – Companhia de Dan\u00e7a from the region’s music and folklore traditions.<\/p>\n

Presente \u2013 Companhia de Dan\u00e7a has as its main objective to establish bridges between training and the professional world, having in its cast finalist students of the Secondary Dance Course, former students and teachers of the school, also aiming at contributing to an effective audience development, especially in places in the Viseu region where contemporary dance has not been presented on a regular basis.<\/p>\n

TODA A NOITE AT\u00c9 SER DIA (ALL NIGHT UNTIL DAY)<\/p>\n

This piece began with a research of the Viseu region’s folklore tradition, followed by visits to various folkloric groups in the municipality of Viseu, to learn their dances. In the studio, the dancers improvised from this repertoire, creating other fictional or invented dances and songs. This piece brings together the memories of those visits and the dances that were already in the body (from the dance stories of each participant), thus creating several layers of meaning.<\/p>\n

E DEPOIS DA DAN\u00c7A (AND AFTER THE DANCE)<\/p>\n

This piece was created as the result of analyzing traditional dances from local folk groups, as well as their own intrinsic languages and types of social engagement. This is a choreography that aims not only at creating something based on a popular language, but also to incorporate the intricacy of the human relationships that are present in the folk dance tradition… These relationships are generated not only in the spaces of the folkloric groups, but also between the artistic team who creates and performs the piece.<\/p>\n
