VOUGASCAPES#4 is part of SoCCoS \u2013 An European network of sound art residencies funded by the Creative Europe Programme and that includes the following main partners: Binaural\/Nodar (Portugal), QO-2 (Belgium), CTM\/Disk (Germany), Hai-Art (Finland) and A-I-R Laboratory (Poland).
\nBinaural\/Nodar has a longstanding experience in working creatively with specific territorial subjects, as a way to embrace a deep reflection on the complexities of the real, particularly of its rural region, Viseu D\u00e3o Laf\u00f5es in Center Portugal.<\/p>\n

Following previous projects dealing with subjects such as riverscapes, ethno-architecture, religion or rural mobility, we invited 10 international young artists and\/or social practitioners for a one week summer camp to collectively work on the geographical and social impacts of the recently built water dam of Ribeiradio\/Ermida in several villages located along river Vouga, in the municipalities of S\u00e3o Pedro do Sul, Vouzela and Oliveira de Frades.
\nDuring the week, participants will go through different in-the-field workshops coordinated by Binaural\/Nodar team about the local geo-ethnographical context, sound recording\/editing\/mixing techniques, ethical\/moral questions of site-specific artistic practices and cooperation methodologies to enhance collective work.<\/p>\n

A particular intervention will be developed in the civil parish of Valadares, municipality of S\u00e3o Pedro do Sul, where, with the invaluable help of the local council, several cultural mediation activities will happen involving local inhabitants and communitarian organizations.<\/p>\n

The end result of VOUGASCAPES#4 will be a series of sound\/media works, writings, drawings, photographs, etc. that will all contribute to a final small publication to be released later in the year and that will also be presented on Saturday 27th at 19h00 at Laf\u00f5es.Cult.Lab, a new cultural space in the municipality of Vouzela (to be soon officially inaugurated), where Binaural\/Nodar will have one of its permanent working bases in the territory.<\/p>\n

Binaural\/Nodar is a cultural entity that benefits from a bi-annual tripartite structural funding granted by the Portuguese Ministry of Culture, General Directorate for the Arts, that also includes the municipalities of S\u00e3o Pedro do Sul, Vouzela and Oliveira de Frades.<\/p>\n
