Human Microphones in the Rural Phonosphere
\nA Sound\/Educational Action by Binaural\/Nodar<\/strong>
\nfor students of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycles of Portuguese basic education system (6 to 15 years old)<\/p>\n

Short Description:<\/p>\n

This is a game of listening and mimicking of sound recordings in the Portuguese rural heritage (human and natural). The participants are challenged to identify and to reproduce through their voices, individually and in groups, the various sound elements and to create a final collective action where the mind and the voice respectively take the role of the microphone and the speaker.<\/p>\n

Objectives:<\/p>\n

1 – To raise the awareness of the educational community to the multidisciplinary and multisensory characters of the cultural heritage of the rural world;<\/p>\n

2 – To exercise the close listening of the rural world, enabling the identification of cultural elements in contrast with those of a more urban\/contemporary world;<\/p>\n

3 – To show different ways of vocalizing the Portuguese language, the onomatopoeic elements of discourse and the close and ancestral relationship between landscape, fauna and the human voice;<\/p>\n

4 – To trigger the vocal and bodily expressiveness of children and youngsters as a way of direct communication with the space and with the other, in contrast with the growing “virtualization” of their lives;<\/p>\n

5 – To apprehend sound recording and editing technologies (several types of microphones and recorders and basic notions of sound editing using open source software)<\/p>\n

This activity will only occur with a minimum of 15 participants, which should sign up at least 15 days prior to the event date.
\nTarget audience: students of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycles of Portuguese basic education system (6 to 15 years old)
\nPedagogical Interaction with the Environmental Studies, Portuguese Language, Natural Sciences and Music disciplinary areas;
\nDuration: 1st cycle: 45 minutes | 2nd and 3rd cycles: 90 minutes
\nFor each session a unique and unrepeatable sound composition will be created and given to the students in mp3 format.<\/p>\n
