organization Stazione di Topol\\u00f2, in the border between Udine province and Slovenia. It was initially presented in 2010 as part of the 24-hour live and web event \\u201cTo Be Continued,\\u201d which brought together works from artists worldwide reflecting on health, physical and mental well-being, disease prevention, and medical education. &lt;\\\/p&gt;\\n&lt;p&gt;This sound journey explores the aural and symbolic world of bees and beekeepers in the rural Portugal, emphasizing both the anthropological and the metaphorical significance of the hive as a functioning community.&lt;\\\/p&gt;\\n&lt;p&gt;The sound piece immerses listeners in the natural rhythms and hums of the beehive, in the voices of beekeepers, addressing the complexities of the world of beekeeping, and in electronic and vocal experimentations, metaphorically suggesting a balance between nature and human care. &lt;\\\/p&gt;\\n&lt;p&gt;The activity of bees and their complex social behavior serve as a sonic analogy for the interconnectedness of physical and psychological health. Through this auditory experience, the piece proposes a deeper understanding of the ancient practice of beekeeping and its relevance to contemporary concerns about well-being and environmental harmony.&lt;\\\/p&gt;\\n&lt;p&gt;Medieval texts frequently mention beekeeping as a model of social organization. This festival took place between March 4th and 8th of 2011 in various locations along the Paiva River, in Center Portugal, and included a program of sound installations, performances, video screenings and conferences dedicated to the exploration of riverside locations and communities through sound and multimedia art. &lt;\\\/p&gt;\\n&lt;p&gt;Following Patrick McGingleys&#8217;s invitation to dedicate one of his Framework radio shows to the festival, Binaural Nodar asked everyone that was part of Paivascapes to send a sound excerpt related in some way to the festival. Biblical narratives speak of rain in contexts like the Great Flood, where it served as a purifying force to cleanse the world of corruption. Rain became a symbol of God\\u2019s providence, washing over the land to bring growth and renewal, but also a reminder of humankind\\u2019s need for repentance and humility before the divine.&lt;\\\/p&gt;\\n&lt;p&gt;The Celtic worldview embraced rain as an intimate part of the natural and spiritual landscape. In Irish and Scottish traditions, rain was woven into the rhythms of the land, often seen as a messenger or a blessing from the Otherworld. In the first, Francesca Migliorin recalls that in her town of Biella in Piedmont youths commit suicide usually by throwing themselves off a bridge, having that specific geographical area one of the highest suicide rates in Italy. Adelino Serrano from Vouzela, a mountain area in Portugal, mentions how local villagers avoid drinking our using water in certain areas were copper and tungsten mining activities were developed in the past, something that is ignored by public authorities. A maioria emigrou para pa\\u00edses europeus como a Fran\\u00e7a e a Alemanha, mas muitos escolheram v\\u00e1rios pa\\u00edses da Am\\u00e9rica do Norte, Central e do Sul, naqueles anos considerado o continente de oportunidades por excel\\u00eancia. Aconteceram vagas de emigra\\u00e7\\u00e3o muito expressivas para o Estados Unidos, o Brasil, o Canad\\u00e1 e a Venezuela, tendo alguns rumado mais a sul, para a Argentina e para o Uruguai. Aquelas fam\\u00edlias que chegaram ao porto de Montevideu, depararam-se com um novo mundo inc\\u00f3gnito, em que a dificuldade de n\\u00e3o falarem o espanhol constituiu um primeiro obst\\u00e1culo, superado posteriormente ao longo dos anos. Esta gente distribuiu-se por muitas atividades, entre o trabalho no campo, a limpeza de casas ou de jardins, o trabalho fabril em f\\u00e1bricas de massas ou de rolhas e tamb\\u00e9m atividades artesanais como a costura ou de com\\u00e9rcio, como a restaura\\u00e7\\u00e3o.&lt;\\\/p&gt;\\n&lt;p&gt;Depois de, no primeiro epis\\u00f3dio desta s\\u00e9rie, termos acompanhado a vida das fam\\u00edlias nos lugares de origem portugueses, antes da emigra\\u00e7\\u00e3o, desta vez vamos escutar um fluxo de pequenos relatos que abordam as raz\\u00f5es da emigra\\u00e7\\u00e3o para o Uruguai, as atribula\\u00e7\\u00f5es da longa viagem de barco e as dificuldades encontradas ao chegar a um novo pa\\u00eds distante. The songs here are from recordings of rehearsals of polyphonic singing groups in the municipalities of Sever do Vouga, Oliveira de Frades, S\\u00e3o Pedro do Sul, and Vouzela. This was from the \\u201cCulture Between Bridges\\u201d project. The text includes the english translation of the song about the grape vine weeping. The vine crying refers to the coming Spring, the increase in temperature and sunlight increases the temperature of the soil, which wakes the grape vine from its vegetative rest. Where cuts were made from the winter pruning, the sap weeps (cries). This can tell the growers that the buds will burst forth soon in a new cycle of growth. There is also a section from a Rabelais story of words frozen then thawed, sounding over the frozen sea. The source archives used in this series belong to Binaural Nodar Digital Archive and explore Voice, and its relationship to Place. How do our places shape voices, both human and non-human, song and soundscape?&lt;\\\/p&gt;\\n&lt;p&gt;In this episode, polyphonic traditional singing from Portugal combines simultaneously two or more tones or melodic lines. The songs here are from recordings of rehearsals of polyphonic singing groups in the municipalities of Sever do Vouga, Oliveira de Frades, S\\u00e3o Pedro do Sul, and Vouzela. This was from the \\u201cCulture Between Bridges\\u201d project. The soundscapes from the Binaural Nodar Digital Archive are layered and woven into the singing, to give an aural context of place and location to the possibly origin of these folk songs, sung during travel, labor, pilgrimage, and celebration. desenvolvido no Museu do Linho de V\\u00e1rzea de Calde com a participa\\u00e7\\u00e3o das crian\\u00e7as do Jardim de Inf\\u00e2ncia de V\\u00e1rzea de Calde e da Escola B\\u00e1sica de Calde (na Freguesia de Calde) e integrado no Programa Viseu Cultura do Munic\\u00edpio de Viseu.&lt;\\\/p&gt;\\n&lt;p&gt;O ateli\\u00ea usou a metodologia &#8220;Todos somos mem\\u00f3ria&#8221; desenvolvida pela Binaural Nodar e que estimula a consci\\u00eancia de que a mem\\u00f3ria n\\u00e3o \\u00e9 necessariamente algo externo a que se acede, mas sim parte do lastro individual e coletivo de cada ser humano, tenha a idade, condi\\u00e7\\u00e3o social e origem geogr\\u00e1fica que tiver.&lt;\\\/p&gt;\\n&lt;p&gt;Assim, as crian\\u00e7as buscaram no seu pr\\u00f3prio ba\\u00fa mental relatos do seu (breve) passado e da mem\\u00f3ria infantil transmitida pelos seus familiares (pais, tios, av\\u00f3s, etc.), gravaram as respectivas vozes e leram excertos de literatura regional de V\\u00e1rzea de Calde, tamb\\u00e9m esta mem\\u00f3ria, com a (subtil) diferen\\u00e7a de ter sido marcada a tinta em papel por gente mais velha. &lt;\\\/p&gt;\\n&lt;p&gt;Foi curioso notar como as crian\\u00e7as, sendo livres de desfiar o seu novelo de mem\\u00f3rias, acabam por abordar tem\\u00e1ticas consideradas dif\\u00edceis como a morte (de animais, de pessoas de fam\\u00edlia) ou acidentes mais ou menos caricatos e mais ou menos graves. Por outro lado, \\u00e9 impressionante notar como crian\\u00e7as de entre 7 e 10 ou 11 anos t\\u00eam ainda mem\\u00f3ria de situa\\u00e7\\u00f5es que ocorreram quando tinham apenas dois anos de idade. E por \\u00faltimo, em aldeias rurais como as da freguesia de Calde, torna-se clar\\u00edssimo que a mem\\u00f3ria ainda \\u00e9 partilhada entre gera\\u00e7\\u00f5es. Em mar\\u00e7o de 2019 a Binaural Nodar desenvolveu um conjunto de ateli\\u00eas na Escola B\\u00e1sica Integrada de Santa Cruz da Trapa, concelho de S\\u00e3o Pedro do Sul, no \\u00e2mbito dos quais alunos do terceiro e quarto ano do professor Paulo Fernandes leram e ativaram em termos sonoros seis lendas tradicionais do concelho de S\\u00e3o Pedro do Sul.&lt;\\\/p&gt;\\n&lt;p&gt;A tradi\\u00e7\\u00e3o oral de um territ\\u00f3rio contribui para a compreens\\u00e3o de refer\\u00eancias geogr\\u00e1ficas, de rela\\u00e7\\u00f5es sociais, de liga\\u00e7\\u00e3o a aspetos mitol\\u00f3gicos ou inexplic\\u00e1veis e at\\u00e9 do sentido de humor das pr\\u00f3prias comunidades. No caso espec\\u00edfico das seis lendas escolhidas para este projeto, tr\\u00eas delas, a lenda da cabra e do lobo, a lenda do morto que matou o vivo e a lenda da cova da serpente dizem respeito a aldeias encravadas no maci\\u00e7o da Gralheira, lugares que foram outrora de dif\\u00edcil acesso e profundamente isolados que viviam da agricultura de subsist\\u00eancia e da cria\\u00e7\\u00e3o de gado caprino e ovino. Outra das lendas, a senhora das colmeias, revela o profundo esp\\u00edrito mariano destas aldeias rurais beir\\u00e3s, e a sua liga\\u00e7\\u00e3o a lugares concretos da paisagem, como montes, ribeiros etc. A lenda do diabo constitui de alguma forma o contraponto \\u00e0 lenda da senhora das colmeias: lugares pass\\u00edveis de santidade tamb\\u00e9m podem ser visitados por esp\\u00edritos malignos, especialmente nos cruzamentos ou cruzes dos caminhos, lugares de transi\\u00e7\\u00e3o, como se de purgat\\u00f3rios na terra se tratassem.
