The project proposal presented by Daniel Lercher, with intent to develop during the artistic residency “O Cantar das Nascentes”, consisted of creating a sound installation on site.
\nLercher began by building a small wooden water mill in a stream capable of managing small amounts of electrical energy, just enough to power a small DIY audio circuit (resembling a cricket chirping).
\nWaterwheels have been an integral part of rural cultures for centuries and constituted the first mechanical device propelled by means other than man or animal.
\nHis work methodology involved building the wheel, the electronics and finding a suitable location in the surrounding area for its installation.
\nFinally, the installation, combined with a presentation on site, contributed to a light interaction between the sound work and the surrounding space.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Daniel Lercher is an Austrian sound artist, composer and musician, born in 1983.
\nHe holds a degree in IT and Electronic Media from the Vienna Institute for Composition and Electroacoustics.
\nIt has a portfolio of more than three hundred concerts, installations and artistic residencies on four different continents. An artist with more than twenty publications in different formats, whether solo or in collaborations with various national and international artists.
\nHis work can already be seen in places such as ORF-Musikprotokoll (AT), Wien Modern (AT), BCSC (AUS), Signal and Noise (CAN), Neposlu\u0161no (SVN), Insomnia (NOR), ICAS (DE), La Petit Mort (CZ), etc.<\/p>\n<\/div>
