Covas do Rio Covas Large<\/strong><\/p>\n Dan Scott proposed the creation of a sound replica of the village of Covas do Rio. The work ended up being a \u201ccover\u201d version of a set of field sound recordings made by the artist in the village.\u00a0The piece to be presented was created using only the voices of the local population.\u00a0The piece addresses issues of sound authenticity, as well as exploring the magic, mimetic and sympathetic, inherent in a ‘cover’ version.\u00a0The human voice is central to the piece, as the sounds of a village are re-vocalized, incorporating them into the space and humanizing them.<\/p>\n Dan Scott is a London-based sound artist.\u00a0With a Masters in Sound Art from the London College of Communication, his original training in Anthropology has inspired much of his practice.\u00a0His work is often site-specific, drawing on local narratives as a way of exploring imaginative forms of listening.\u00a0Over the past five years he has worked and exhibited across Europe, including London’s Tate Modern, Resonance FM, Herhusid artist residency center in Iceland, an abandoned apartment building in Germany and a marble quarry in Portugal.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div> ARTISTIC WORKS<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>
