{"id":18526,"date":"2023-06-23T10:56:43","date_gmt":"2023-06-23T10:56:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.binauralmedia.org\/news?post_type=avada_portfolio&#038;p=18526"},"modified":"2023-07-03T10:01:24","modified_gmt":"2023-07-03T10:01:24","slug":"keiko-uenishi-2010","status":"publish","type":"avada_portfolio","link":"https:\/\/www.binauralmedia.org\/news\/en\/arquivo\/portfolio-items\/keiko-uenishi-2010","title":{"rendered":"Keiko Uenishi (2010)"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Paiva Games: Sound Dams<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With inspiration from several investigations of the last 28 km of Paiva River, I\u2019ve created a game called \u201cSound Dams\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>To cross \/ Not to cross (frontier)- with younglings on both sides of the Paiva River, they were invited to decide whether to stay on their own side or cross the river. Once the decision was made, the \u201cCrossing\u201d group went to collect sounds that they were familiar with, while the \u201cNot to cross\u201d group were set out to find sounds which they weren\u2019t used to hearing. This means that there were four groups-since there already were two pre-existing groups on each side: \u201cCrossing\u201d and \u201cNot to cross\u201d. Finally, each side of the group that remained revealed sound files recorded with that group \u201cthat crossed\u201d, making guesses about their sources, comparing their choices, etc&#8230;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Circulation \/ Current &#8211; sounds recollected from the river that went back to being transmitted through battery and solar powered radio stations FM, in the most distant location of the river, on the first day of \u201cchanging locations\u201d as if it were a \u201cdeclaration\u201d of the game. Later on, another game of \u201cCrossing\/Not to cross\u201d took place with the people that were further ahead.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Uni\u00e3o (\u201cSound Dams\u201d) &#8211; Combining the new sound archives with the added result of the game, there was another transmission and a new game in the furthest and last area of the river. Contraring the water dams, \u201cSound Dams\u201d in crease the flow towards the source, with many \u201ccrossed communications\u201d as a result of the distinct pre-existing parts of the river and the people that live along its shores.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Based in Brooklyn, New Yorke, sound artist, social composer, and core member of SHARE o.blaat (Keiko Uenishi) is known by her works created through experimenting, reformulation and analysis of the relation of each sound insociological, cultural and\/or psychological environments. The artist has performedand exhibited in several museums, clubs, galleries and festivals around the world.
