Hardware Hacking: The Ears Don’t Have Eyelids

INTRODUCTION
A sound experimentation workshop based on building homemade sound devices. Motors, photo-resistances, microphones, oscillators and sound recycling in general will serve to spend a good time around cheap and innocent electronic scrap.
The purpose of this workshop is to facilitate an environment of knowledge interchange with the participants and to explore some “DIY” possibilities applied to sound creation electronics.
The workshop will be conducted an artist who is a specialist in the area and proposes an approach of immediate and practical application of the concepts and tools, through the development of a final project including contributions of all the participants.
TARGET GROUP
Any person interested in experimental sound practice. No previous experience is needed.
STRUCTURE
DURATION AND LOCATIONS
Depending on the hosting venue’s preference, the workshop can last from 2 days (5 hours per day) to 4 days (4 hours per day), in dates and places to be announced.
REQUIREMENTS
Participants should bring a soldering device and a thin coil of tin or other solder substance. Also, participants can bring some sound-producing electronic toys, unused guitar pedals, everything to be transformed during the laboratory.
