Since the inception of its activities in 2006, Nodar Artist Residency Center has been hosting and organizing multidisciplinary events where artist creation meets theoretical discussion and educational activities.

Magaio Voicescapes

Magaio Voicescapes comprises a series of artist residencies that will take place between May and October 2011 in interaction with the context of each of the 15 rural villages of the Gralheira mountain region, those ones that comprise the network of “Aldeias de Magaio”. The developed works will be presented to the public in the end of May, July and September, as part of an event - Voices of Magaio Festival that will include concerts, screening of videos, sound walks, oral heritage and traditional music presentations. Fronte[i]ras 07 comprised a program of artistic residencies, one in Nodar (a small rural village in Portugal) and another on the outskirts of Pontevedra (Galicia) where several artists from different origins and backgrounds gathered during 10 days on each residency space for the development of artistic projects related to border issues, in close connection with social thinkers who held a critique observatory during the same period. Paivascapes #1

Paivascapes #1 comprises a series of artist residences about the Paiva river along 2010. In parallel, the several art works will be presented to local audiences, in the context of an event (between March 4th - 8th 2011) that includes conferences, concerts, video screenings and a retrospective exhibition of the whole project. This exhibition will later follow an itinerancy through several towns along the course of the Paiva River and will have an underlying program of educational activities intended for children and youths.
