Arrington de Dionyso | USA

Arrington de Dionyso travels through territories on the border between surrealism, the american rock'n'roll tradition and xamanism. Having studied ethnomusicology, Butoh dance and music therapy, de Dionyso has been playing all over the world either with his band, Old Time Relijun, or solo, in this case improvising with bass clarinet, mouth harp and voice. His approach to singing can be described as a cross-over between Siberian throat singing and the espirituality of Albert Ayler and Captain Beefheart. Self described as the "James Bond of Improvisation", Arrington's live performances are distinguished by an unstable balance between extasis and madness. As parallel activities, Arrington de Dionyso organizes vocal improvisation workshops and exhibitions of his drawings and paintings, besides being the curator of the Olympia Festival of Experimental Musics in the USA.
